Sales and Marketing Director
Tim has led a professional life surrounded by luxury and prestigious Lifestyle Brands. After a year of training at an art institute, working towards his degree in European Business -with a specialization in Marketing and French- he was steered towards the position he holds today, that of Sales & Marketing Director at Ornellaia.
Having received some summer work experience in France, he earned his first job opportunity in London at a communications agency, specialising in French luxury lifestyle brands. His childhood was spent between overseas trips and boarding schools. Having frequently passed through Duty Free zones, his attention became drawn to one specific product, Cognac; a spirit that spoke to his international character inspired his imagination. Thereafter, he studied the rules of Brand Marketing during his seven years as press officer for Rémy Martin Cognac. The next five years were dedicated to the reconstruction of a Cognac House that had been taken over by a Russian investor. This led him to experience the harsh realities of running a business on his own.
He was hired by Ornellaia as Area Manager in 2011, moving to the role of Marketing Manager in 2013. During the last four years he has been responsible for every business activity in the company, with a clear mission in mind: to place Ornellaia among the best wines in the world.
"Ornellaia’s Vendemmia d’artista (VDA) project: Environmental, social, cultural and economic sustainability"
September 13, 2019, 8pm: An online auction curated by Sothebys closes and Ornellaia announces a donation of $312,000 to the Solomon R. Guggenheim Foundation, during an exclusive evening for the Peggy Guggenheim Collection in Venice. The donation will support “Mind’s Eye“, an innovative program created by the Guggenheim Education Department to help blind and visually impaired individuals discover and experience contemporary art utilising all the senses. Tim Banks – Ornellaia’s Marketing and Sales Director – will talk about how, in just 11 years, Ornellaia’s Vendemmia d’Artista has grown from a simple anniversary dinner to one of the most effective sustainable art projects in the world. Since its creation, the project has both donated millions of dollars to various art foundations around the globe, consolidated Ornellaia’s image in the wine industry and beyond, as well as helped strengthen the company’s economic sustainability efforts by making it a leading figure in the field of cultural sustainability.
