Since 1978 he has been the President and Executive Director of Masi Agricola SpA, a winery based in the Valpolicella area since the end of the eighteenth centuty and very active in the production and distribution of fine wines rooted in the values of the Venezie regions. After obtaing a degree in Business and Economics, he began his working career in 1964 in the field of marketing, developing companies’ commercial networks. He was one of the first in Italy to understand the strategic importance of brands also in the food sector, investmenting to position his company on the international markets. Since 1973 he has started a collaboration with the Serego Alighieri Counts, owners of a famous estate in Valpolicella full of history and traditions.  A firm believer in innovation and research rooted in tradition, he created the Masi Technical Force, a multidisciplinary team of experts. In 2007 he started a partnership with the historic house of the Counts Bossi Fedrigotti in Rovereto, a symbol of Trentino’s enologic tradition. In Argentina, he set up La Arboleda Vineyards, an estate producing wines with the Masi Tupungato brand. In 2015 Masi was listed in the Stock Exchange on the AIM Italy market dedicated to small and medium enterprises. Very involved also in various associations in the fiels, he is the President of Federvini (Federazione Italiana Industriali Produttori, Esportatori e Importatori di Vini, Acquaviti, Liquori, Sciroppi, Aceti e affini) and he is part of Confindustria’s Board of the “Collegio dei Probiviri” in Verona. He has always been active in following the political and promotional aspects of Italian fine wine. He is a founding member and Vice-President of the Istituto dei Vini Italiani di Qualità Grandi Marchi and, locally, of the Famiglie dell’Amarone d’Arte Association. He has been involved in the initial project that gave birth to Vinitaly. He is the Vice-President of the Masi Foundation that was set up in 2001 to complement the Masi Award instituted in 1981. He has been part of the Board of Directors of the University of Verona. Over the years, he has received numerous awards both at a national and international level, including the Cangrande d’Argento Award, Society of Wine Educators Grand Award, Wine Enthusiast Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2004, the Domus Mercatorum Award conferred by the Verona Chamber of Commerce, and the “Meininger Award” for his career. In 2016 he was nominated Cavaliere del Lavoro della Repubblica Italiana.
