Managing Director – Senior Vice President at Ruffino Group & Cbi Emea Region
Since 1994 Sandro Sartor has been finance director of the Italian Distribution Division (that eventually became Diageo in 1997). While working toward his MBA from London Business School, he was appointed Strategy and Business Development Director for East Europe where he reported directly to Diageo’s East Europe President. In 2005 Sandro was appointed Managing Director of Diageo Italia and the company has become the second biggest player in the Italian spirits category. Then, in April 2011, he was chosen by Constellation Brands (CB) as managing director for the newly acquired Ruffino Company. Since its integration into Constellation, Ruffino has more than doubled in size while achieving significant successes in quality and innovation. Among Italian wine companies, Ruffino is currently ranked 14 in terms of sales and 7 in terms of earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT). Most recently, in June 2017, Sandro was appointed managing director of CB’s Europe, Middle East, and Africa (AEMEA) portfolio, where he’s taken on the difficult task of reviewing strategy and performance trajectory. Under Sandro’s leadership, CB appears poised to achieve regional goals ahead of schedule.
"The Wine Observatory by Unione Italiana Vini: data sharing for the Italian wine industry"
The new Wine Observatory platform from Unione Italiana Vini (UIV) will present, through a single web portal, worldwide wine trade data including production, stock, and bulk wine prices. The tool will include (thanks to a partnership with the Italian “consorzi di tutela”) a system for monitoring the performance of Protected Designation of Origin (PDO) wines both in the Italian market and overseas. This session will be the the first ever unveiling of the functional platform and will feature commentary from the entrepreneurs and consortia who helped make the project possible.
