Jonathan Joson has thirteen years of experience in digital marketing working with Asia’s top consumer and finance brands. He was a founding member of Havas Media in the Philippines and spent two years in Hong Kong with Group M as the Colgate-Palmolive agency-on-record’s digital planning lead in nine countries across Asia. Jonathan also spent two years with Google, helping large banks and airlines in the Philippines achieve real business results through digital marketing. He has received both national and regional recognition for his work. The Asia-Pacific Campaign Magazine named Jonathan 2012 Planner of the Year, and in 2013 he made the magazine’s ’40 Under 40′ List of rising talent. He has since left the advertising and media industry to focus on building his own e-commerce businesses: HairMNL.com has become the top professional hair care e-commerce site in the Philippines and Boozy.ph is now the largest wine and liquor delivery e-commerce service in the country.

"A glimpse into Southeast Asia’s wine value chain"

In this session we’ll take a quick trip through Southeast Asia and explore the wine industry through the perspectives of three key players: sommeliers, importers, and digital marketers. Specifically, exporters will likely find opportunity in the markets of Vietnam and the Philippines. To begin, Huy Tu, President of the Saigon Sommelier Association in Vietnam, will discuss the barriers and challenges that shape italian wine strategy in the business to consumer market. Next up, Butz Tenchavez, co-founder and president of Gran Hacienda Wines in the Philippines, will introduce us to the back end of the import business and the rise of small importers that are opening doors for wine producers in an evolving marketplace. Finally, Jonathan Joson, with thirteen years of digital marketing experience with Asia’s top consumer and finance brands, will cap off the discussion with an analysis of how COVID-19 has reshaped consumer habits in the Philippines and how Southeast Asia, in general, is embracing digital industries. Justin Chen and Lyka Caparas moderate this session with an emphasis on familiarizing us with untapped markets in Southeast Asia.
